Steelers 51, Colts 34

The Steelers got a big boost as they defeated Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts yesterday.

The defense came out strong and put pressure on Colts QB Andrew Luck from the start.

They also caused turnovers, which were key.

William Gay intercepted Luck and ran it back for a touchdown, and Antwon Blake iced the win with another interception late in the fourth quarter.

Cam had a great game as he pressured Andrew Luck for 60 minutes. He was considered for Player of the Week honors with his play. He had two sacks which were unfortunately nullified by penalties. The Player of the Week was Ben Roethlisberger.

The offense was on fire from the start. Ben’s offensive line provided the best protection we’ve seen in a long time. This allowed Ben to “Be Ben”.

From Bob Labriola, Steelers.com:

Roethlisberger completed 40-of-49 for 522 yards, with six touchdowns and no interceptions to finish with a rating of 150.6. He became the first player in NFL history to pass for over 500 yards twice in a career; he became one of four quarterbacks in NFL history to win his 100th game within 150 career starts.

From Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post Gazette:

Defensive line

Andrew Luck was sacked only two times in 45 attempts, but that does not begin to indicate how much pressure the Steelers generated on the pocket. Cam Heyward had two sacks negated by penalty and Brett Keisel continues to collapse the pocket like the old days. The Colts didn’t run a lot (10 carries for 63 yards), but they averaged 6.3 yards per carry because Luck scrambled three times for 26 yards.

Watch Cam’s post game interview, where talked about getting a win, the performance of Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and staying together through thick and thin.

Cam isn’t ready to say the team is perfect:

We have to continue to get better in all three phases and fine tune our game in all phases. We have to view the tape and find ways to get better. We’re up for another great battle this week.
